The latest update from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children shows that 13-year-old Katherine Derleth has a pacemaker and may be in need of medical attention. It also says the three individuals may be camping.
New information was also released about the van the group is traveling in. The 1996 Mercury Villager van has damage to the rear and driver’s side.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children is asking the community to be on the look out for a green 1996 Mercury Villager van with the Illinois license plate, E833210. The van is believed to be driven by Christopher M. Derleth, who is accused of kidnapping his 13-year-old step-daughter Katherine Derleth and her 3-week-old son, Christopher Ray Derleth.
They are believed to be in West Virginia or Kentucky. Anyone with information can call 1-800-THE-LOST (1-800-843-5678) or the Madison County Sheriff’s Office (Illinois) at 618-692-4433.
10:45 a.m. Sept. 20, 2016 UPDATE:
The prosecutor’s office in Madison County, Illinois have filed a nation wide extradition arrest warrant for Christopher M. Derleth, who is suspected of kidnapping and child abduction charges. The is accused of taking his 13-year-old stepdaughter Katherine Derleth and her 3-week-old son Christopher Ray Derleth from their guardian’s home. He had been ordered not to contact the girl.
There was a report that they were last seen in West Virginia. That was on Monday, Sept. 19. They are believed to be traveling in a green 1996 Mercury Villager van.
ORIGINAL STORY: A pair of children from Illinois are believed to have been abducted by a relative and were last seen here in the mountain state. According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, Katherine Derleth, 13, and her son Christopher Ray Derleth, who is just 18-days-old, went missing from Edwardsville, IL on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016.
Katherine is 5 feet tall and 100 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes. Christopher is 18-inches long and 8 pounds. The two children may be with Christopher M. Derleth, 39. He is 6-feet 1-inch tall and weighs 160 pounds. He has hazel eyes and brown hair. They are believed to be traveling in a 1996 Mercury Villager Van with Illinois license plate number E833210,
According to a release from the West Virginia Emergency Management Agency, the children were last seen on I-77 south at mile marker 94. That is just south of Charleston.. Anyone with information is asked to contact their local detachment of the West Virginia State Police.
