Lewisburg is gearing up for the annual Shanghai Parade this Sunday.
The New Years Day parade is a tradition in Greenbrier County. Officials with the parade say the tradition started back in the 1800s.
Each year floats, animals, and, of course, people take to Rt 60 in Lewisburg to enjoy the fun.
“The entries are always a surprise. Some of them are planned all year round. Some of them are quite impromptu, but they always please the crowd and, of course, we always have the new years baby,” says organizer Dr. Mary Ann Mann.
This year the parade will be different than the past. Usually, the fun starts at noon. Since New Years Day is on a Sunday, this year the parade will begin at 2.
