A search warrant for illegal ginseng turned into a standoff with police off of Route 61 on Saturday September 12, 2015. Marshall Richards, with the Department of Natural Resources Police Department, said when the officers arrived on scene, a man barricaded himself in the home and fired a shot at the officers. After a short standoff, officers were able to talk the man out of the house and he was arrested. No one was injured. At this time, police are not releasing the suspect’s name.
Shots were fired on September 12, 2015, near Route 61 in Fayette County.
The Department of Natural Resources Police Department is handling the incident. They were still on the scene as of 10 p.m.
911 dispatchers have asked us not to go to the scene for safety reasons.
