WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Evan Jenkins (R-W.Va.) issued the following statement today after Patriot Coal issued WARN notices to more than 1,900 employees in Boone and Kanawha counties:

“Nearly 2,000 West Virginia families are worried about the future of their livelihoods after receiving word that their jobs may be lost after Patriot Coal’s sale. Policies coming from Washington and President Obama’s EPA have already cost thousands of West Virginians their jobs, and our state – and our families – cannot afford to lose even more good-paying coal jobs. In Congress, I will use every method possible to stop this administration’s anti-coal policies and put our miners back to work. On Tuesday, I helped announce new funding for a retraining program to help miners find new employment, and I will never stop fighting for our coal jobs and coal families,” Rep. Jenkins said.
