Students at Athens Elementary in Mercer County learned about the effects of tobacco use on Thursday November 12, 2015. Jennifer Farmer with Community Connections in Princeton talked with students and encouraged them to never start the habit. She did an exercise where students jogged in place for 30 seconds. After that, the students tried to just breathe through a straw. Farmer said that’s similar to how a person who spokes feels when they breathe.
Farmer said, “I think the kids had a great time. They were running like crazy and then they were saying that it was awful the way that they felt afterwards. It was really hard to breathe. They were just struggling to breathe in and breathe out.”
Farmer hopes the kids strive to not pick up the addiction.
