A local father-son team are turning their love for 4-wheelers into a business.

Phil Akers Sr. and Phil Akers, Jr. opened Planet Powersports on December 10.

They will be offering a variety of services, ranging from sales, parts and service and even storage.

They’re hoping to take advantage of the many off road trails, including The Hatfield McCoy Trail. Phil Akers, Jr., Planet Powersports Partner, told us ” Route 52, you know, comes right down through here, and with the trail heads in Bramwell and on down, I think that with the North Carolina traffic comes in and local business, I think at this end of the county there’s more ATV riders.”

The new business is located behind the Burger King on Route 52 and is open Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
