With tonight being New Year’s Eve, many people of the legal drinking age will surely be bringing in the new year with a champagne toast. According to employees at this liquor store, New Year’s Eve is actually one of their most profitable days of the season.

Last year they sold roughly $18,000 worth of alcohol. This year they’re expected to sell more than 3 times the amount of what they sell on an average day.

“I’ve heard it’s going to be pretty crazy, we’re going to be busy. We’ve just been told to keep up with everything,” said Amanda Mitchels, cashier.

Even though the liquor store is expecting a record number of sales, nation wide the Mountain State falls pretty low on the list as far as alcohol consumption.

According to data from the Washington Post, West Virginia, Mississippi and Utah are among the states that consume the least amount of alcohol.
