Beckley man arrested for sex crimes

Beckley Police made an arrest in an investigation into a man who apparently tried to pick up a teenage girl from his church.  Aaron Pugh, 33, was arrested at around noon on Friday, July 24, 2015.

According to Cpl. J.R. Quesenberry, Pugh knew the girl from church then stalked her on Facebook.  Investigators said he started talking with the victim over Facebook and asking to hook up with her.  The victim and her mother reported the messages to Beckley Police who took over the page earlier in the week.  After police began interacting with Pugh, they say he started sending lewd pictures.  Officers were able to get a search warrant on Friday and confiscated Pugh’s computers.

Pugh is charged with three counts of Soliciting a Minor via Computer, Use of Obscene Matter to Solicit a Minor and 10 counts of Distribution of Obscene Material.  Cpl. Quesenberry says more charges could be pending.  The case is still under investigation by Beckley Police.  Pugh was arraigned on Friday afternoon and is being held on a $250,000 bond.
