Beckley Salvation Army Gets New Commanding Officer

A new commanding officer has moved in to a local charity. Captain Jerry Lester is now the Commanding Officer at Beckley’s Salvation Army. He comes to Beckley — from the Huntington office.

He says he grew up with ties to Salvation Army and is very exited to help the community.

“That’s my goal, is serving the people and sometimes that is not easy because I would love to be able to serve every person who walks in our door,” said Captain Lester.

Captain Lester has many ideas planned for this Salvation Army— Including moving into a new location that has already been purchased. That new location will not begin renovations for five to six months.
