A viewer from the Beckley area of West Virginia shared these photos and video with us of a black bear wandering through her backyard. Tracy Speilman took the pictures. She lives in the Woodcrest neighborhood, which is behind Woodrow Wilson High School.
“I was terrified,” said Speilman. “Hopefully, no one else will get scared. There’s a lot of houses out here.”
She believes the bear wandered to her house from the New River Gorge area. If you are concerned about wildlife in your neighborhood, officials say to contact the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources wildlife resources office in your area. A complete list of contact numbers can be found at the WV DNR web site.
