A producer in the music industry from Bluefield, Mercer County gives back to his community. Anthony Woart went to Bluefield High School and is now working in Miami, Florida. He’s putting on an event on Saturday September 19, 2015 with his business partner at the Wade Center in Bluefield. It’s called HYD Fest where local performers can showcase their skills. Woart will announce the winner of his new scholarship called the Legacy Scholarship to a Bluefield High School student at the event. The scholarship is for 1,500.
Woart said, “We want to inspire. I don’t want finances to be the reason that someone doesn’t go to school because I feel like school is the foundation of everything. I met my business partner in school. I met so many people in school.”
Woart’s business partner Jersen Faustin said, “You know a lot of times people tell you no you can’t do something or no you can’t accomplish this. This is my dream so therefore whatever you have to say, all that negativity can’t harm this.”
Woart said more than 30 people applied to the scholarship.
