Troopers in Mercer County are investigating a deadly hit and run in Bluewell. It happened on Thursday January 7, 2016. Susan Roberts spent her Friday morning grieving after learning her close friend Katrina Davis was killed by a reported drunk driver.
Roberts said, “Drunk drivers shouldn’t be on the road anyway. That’s the way I feel. They just shouldn’t be on the roads and he should get his punishment.”
Roberts and Michella Webb put flowers next to the crime scene on Route 52 in Bluewell to honor their friend’s memory.
Roberts said, “It’s been a long night. We’ve been up all night crying and everything and it’s so hard to believe.”
Michella Webb said, “We’ll miss her.”
Roberts said, “She’ll be dearly missed. She loved her son dearly.”
Troopers said Davis was reported dead on scene just after 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Troopers arrested Aubie East. He’s charged with DUI with a Fatality and Leaving the Scene of a Fatality. Troopers picked him up Thursday night at a home on Packing Plant Road . East appeared to be remorseful as he headed to his arraignment. His bond has been set at $100,000 cash only.
Friends of the victim are holding a vigil at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday January 9, 2016 at the crime scene.
Troopers with the Princeton Detachment of the West Virginia State Police arrested Aubie East, 28, of Bluewell, WV on Friday, Jan. 8, 2016. East is charged with charges of DUI with a Fatality and Leaving the Scene of a Fatality.
Investigators said East was the driver of a vehicle that hit and killed 36-year-old Katrina Davis of Bluewell. That happened at around 8 p.m. on Route 52 on Thursday January 7, 2016 near the Advanced Auto in Bluewell. Davis was declared dead at the scene.
East was found by law enforcement officers on Thursday night. He was at a home on Packing Plant Road. East was arraigned on Friday morning. His bond was set at $100,000 cash only.
