The West Virginia Attorney General has released a list of the top eight complaints received by the consumer protection division in West Virginia. For southern West Virginia counties, including Fayette, Greenbrier, McDowell, Mercer, Monroe, Pocahontas, Raleigh, Summers and Wyoming, the number one complaint was Repairs on used vehicles. The number seven complaint was also over automobiles. In fact, according to the report from the Attorney General’s office, nearly one quarter of the consumer issues across the state involved automotive and motor vehicles complaints.

- Internet Services
- Collection Agencies
- Satellite Equipment and Service
- Contests – Sweepstakes and Prizes
- Sales – General
- Automobiles – Miscellaneous
- Telephone Services
The list does not include calls from consumers who did not follow up with a written complaint. It also does not include scams, which the AG’s office says is the most frequently reported consumer issue. Anyone who feels they have been the victim of a scam or has been taken advantage of by a business should call the consumer protection hotline at 800-368-8808.
