Chase through Raleigh County ends with 5 in custody


Troopers with the West Virginia State Police were involved in a high speed chase on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016.  It began at on the West Virginia Turnpike near the Athens exit sometime around 9 a.m. 

Troopers attempted to pull over a white pickup truck with five people inside for a traffic violation.  That is when the truck took off up I-77 to the Ghent Exit, then continued down Route 19 toward Shady Spring.  The truck turned on to Route 3 and chase ended in the Nimitz area of Summers County.  The truck apparently hit another vehicle while going down Route 3 near the intersection with Mount View Road.

 All five people in the truck were initially taken into custody. Only one was actually arrested.  In addition to other charges, she is charged with Felony Hit and Run. The truck was a Ford F-150.  It is a rental vehicle from South Carolina.
