Emergency responders were called to the scene of an accident between a car and a coal truck in Fayette County on Thursday, May 7, 2015. It happened at around 2 p.m.
According to officers with the Montgomery Police Department, a person driving a Kia crossed the center line on Route 61. The car was going south on the road and ran into a coal truck that was headed the opposite direction. The driver was a 42-year-old woman. She had to be cut from her car and was flown to Charleston Area Medical Center. Her name and condition have not been released, but police said she was awake while crews worked to get her out of the vehicle.
The driver of the coal truck was not hurt. There is no word as to why the woman may have crossed the center line. The accident was investigated by Officer Cooper.
