Community Looks to Form Greenbrier Trail Alliance

Greenbrier County is taking a page from Fayette County’s recreation book. Residents are deciding if they want to create the Greenbrier Trail Alliance.

Like Fayette County, it would be an alliance that works to create a recreational trail connecting the towns throughout the county- but it wouldn’t stop there.
Leaders of the movement say they hope to see a trail connecting Greenbrier with it’s neighboring counties as well.

Doug Hylton is heading up the project. He believes a trail system would boost the economy saying, “it’s an opportunity to give people the chance to get out and to recreate. It also is a great tourism draw to get visitors from out of state, out of county, that will come and see what you have to offer here in Greenbrier County.”

If enough interested is shown, the alliance will begin working towards tying recreational trails together throughout the county as well as Monroe, Pocahontas, Summers and Fayette counties.
