Concord University held its annual Relay for Life event Thursday, April 15th, to raise money for cancer research and awareness.
The six hour event took place in the Carter Center gym located on the Athens campus.
“Cancer will unfortunately affect almost everybody in their lifetime,” said Brittany Stother, an event organizer. “Whether it’s they themselves that wind up getting diagnosed or a loved one, it’s so important for everyone to realize and come together so we can fight this thing and find a cure.”
All together, $6,545.15 was raised for the American Cancer Society, according to Lindsey Akers.
