Concord University held their 18th fall commencement earlier today in the Leslie R. And Ruby Webb Carter Center. Forty-two graduate students and 148 undergraduate students received their diplomas today.
Along with several students from West Virginia, there were also students in the ceremony from Virginia, Texas, Indiana and Maryland, among others. The Fall 2016 class also includes seven veterans.
Several University Officials spoke during the commencement, including the Fall 2016 Class Valedictorian Dawn Painter, who’s from Sissonville, West Virginia.
“I’d like to pursue a career in administration eventually but I’m just glad that it’s over with because I have nine children that I’ve adopted so I’ll have lots more time for them now,” said Keisha Gibson, Concord Graduate.
A reception was held in the Carter Center small gym following the ceremony.
