The 6th annual Day of Hope will take place in Beckley, Saturday August 19th. A day full of fun that has hundreds of people coming together to give back to Southern West Virginia.
It takes nearly 3 months to plan an event like this. This is a free event that will feature activities for people of all ages. Free meals will be provided, as well as free shoes for kids from kindergarten to high school, haircuts, family portraits, free dental and medical assessments and so much more. Kids can enjoy a carnival-zone that will have inflatable activities and games.
Day of Hope coordinator C. L. Wilkerson says he hopes people from all over Southern West Virginia can come and enjoy this event.
“This is a real labor of love. We have 600 volunteers who will be coming out. Their mission is to serve and to love and to be kind.”
The purpose of Beckley Day of Hope is to give special outreach to the community and meet the basic physical and special needs of the community.
The event will have transportation pick-ups at 25 locations throughout Beckley. Day of Hope will take place at the Beckley Raleigh County Convention Center, Saturday August 19th from 10AM-3PM. Beckley Day of Hope will take place rain or shine. A schedule for transportation and more information about the event can be found at www.beckleydayofhope.org
