Drug round up nets nearly 2 dozen suspects


An effort to clean up the streets in Buchanan County, Virginia lead to the arrest of 22 people.  The drug sweep was a joint effort by the 29th Judicial Narcotics Drug Task Force, the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office, Virginia State Police and the Grundy Town Police Department.  Officers, Deputies and Troopers were out on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016 to make the arrests.  In addition to drug charges, some suspects were also facing Child Abuse and Neglect.

According to Buchanan County Sheriff Ray Foster, they also seized narcotics during the sweep.  He said there are also more arrests to come in the investigation.  All of the suspects were taken to the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Haysi, VA.
