“Wanda was a very very what you wanna say, an astute individual,” Dennis Toney, a family member of Wanda Toney said.Family members believe Wanda Faye Toney is the woman who was killed in Saturday mornings house fire, but officials haven’t released her name. Family members of Wanda Toney rushed to Pax Saturday after hearing their beloved family member was the victim in an early morning house fire, including Dennis Toney
They was a real tight family, real close and they more or less took took care of each other a lot, and anytime they ever needed anything, she was there
Though many of the family members have moved out of the area, Pax is home for the Toney’s.
“She lived in Pax and was raised in Pax,” he said.
Now investigators have the difficult task of finding out how the fire started. Fayette County Sheriff Steve Kessler said the rain isn’t helping the cause either.
“It slows it down a little bit for us so we have to put a cover up inside there try to keep what we can preserve it the best we can,” Kessler said.
He said one thing that they are hopeful the fire didn’t reach the propane tank that is still sitting in the yard.
“That could have been if it did and that’s probably the first thing that they did when they got here, the fire department was hit that tank with water to keep it cold,” Kessler said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time
Anyone with any information concerning this incident is asked to contact the Fayette County 911 Center or Crime Stoppers. You can also submit information through the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department’s Facebook page.
