A member of the Fayette County Board of Education resigned unexpectedly on Thursday, May 12, 2016. Lou Jones sent her resignation to Superintendent Terry George at 5 p.m. saying she was resigning effective immediately.
Jones was unseated during the primary election on Tuesday May 10. George said he has sent her resignation to the board’s attorney to find out if they need to fill the seat immediately or if they can wait until the new board member fills the seat on July 1. There is only one scheduled board meeting between now and that deadline.
