Fayette County man pleads guilty to sex crimes


A plea hearing was held for on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016 for a man accused of sexual abuse against a young girl.  Delmas Royal King, 70, of Oak Hill pleaded guilty to a charge of Using Obscene Matter with Intent to Seduce a Minor.”  The hearing was held at 9 a.m. in front of Chief Judge Paul Blake.

King was indicted by the Fayette County grand jury in May. He was originally facing charges of First Degree Sexual Abuse and Sex Abuse by a Parent, Guardian or Custodian.  Those charges were the result of an investigation in November 2015 which involved a girl who was 12-years-old or younger.

“Although we certainly like to take sexual offenders out of circulation for as long as possible, this plea is the in the best interest of both Justice and the child victim in this case, “said Fayette County Prosecuting Attorney Larry Harrah.

King is facing up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $25,000.  he will also have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.  He is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 3, 2016 at 9 a.m. in front of Judge Blake.
