Flooding preparations continue

The Alderson Green Grocer is the only grocery store in the Alderson area. Ann Knott is the manager there, and is well aware of the predictions for this weekends weather .She says that although the forecast has become less severe, there are a few things that it is important to have in your cupboards if a power outage may occur.

She says, “If it’s a power outage I would make sure I have plenty of drinking water, bread, things that you won’t be able to bake, you know, if you could bake your own bread. Maybe bread, canned goods, things you can heat up on a grill if you had to.”

Even though the most recent rainfall predictions don’t have the rivers rising quite as much as they did at first, it is important to remember that with any increase in water levels, flooding can occur, and it is important to stay prepared.

Tina Tuckwiller, a Lewisburg resident, says that stocking up on canned goods is not the only thing you should be doing to protect yourself.  She mentions how critical it is for people to realize where and when it is okay to drive in heavy rain.

And of course, making sure that you have the most up to date weather information is always important, especially in severe weather situations.
