The Super Bowl is a time for people to come together and enjoy the game as well as each other.  So, what did people buy for their Super Bowl party on Sunday February 7, 2016?  59News stopped by grocery stores in Tazewell and Mercer Counties.
The Kroger in Princeton was packed Sunday morning with people getting ready to root on their favorite team for Super Bowl 50.  Panther fan Steve Walls was searching for ingredients for 2 different dishes he’s making.

Walls said, “I’m getting stuff to make chili and some buffalo chicken dip.”

A popular Super Bowl deal Kroger is offering is 10 bags of peanuts for $10 or 1 bag for just $1.  Pizza is a popular food to have at a Super Bowl party and Kroger is offering 2 pizzas for just $10.  According to officials with public affairs at Kroger, popular items customers are purchasing are cakes, cupcakes, wings, party trays, and frozen appetizers just to name a few.  Kimberly Cain is picking up some last minute items for her husband.

Cain said, “I’m getting him some chicken so he can relax and my son some chicken.”

The Food Lion in Tazewell was also packed.  That’s where we found Jerry Cromer and his wife.

Cromer said, “We got some hot chicken and some cheese and some crackers and chips and things like that.”

According to officials with Kroger,  top bakery items customers purchase are rolls, pepperoni rolls, cookies, and sandwich buns.
