Former Summers County bus driver faces sex crime charge

On Feb. 22, 2016, troopers with the Hinton Detachment of the West Virginia State Police were told about a possible sex crime involving a 17-year-old student of Summers County High School and Matthew Hinton, who worked as a bus driver for Summers County schools.

Following an investigation, Hinton was arrested on Monday, Feb. 29.  The case is set to go before the next grand jury.  Investigators said the process to terminate Hinton’s employment with the Board of Education was started, but before it could be completed he resigned from his position.
