Grant Brings Smiles to Local Dental Clinics

Donations and local volunteers do not stop at blood drives and hurricane relief functions. They are also quite fluent in everyday health care.

One clear example is within the West Virginia Association of Free and Charitable Clinics, which recently opened its new dental facility at Beckley Health Right on September 8th, 2017.  The association also received a two-year grant of a quarter-million dollars from the Highmark Foundation and the Benedum Foundation, which will be put in place for future operations. These new amenities are certainly putting a smile on everyone’s face.

“In southern West Virginia, there’s a huge need for dental care for the uninsured,” said Beckley Health Right administrator/CEO Jeff Graham. “Even Medicaid and medicare folks have very limited services available to them for dental, so here it is.”

Year one in the two-year plan features an expansion to oral healthcare through medical integration at Beckley Health Right. The second year has plans to open another on-site dental clinic at a different location.
