Senior Elisha Kidd has been a standout for the Crusaders this year, and he opened the scoring. Cortney Walton passed down court to Kidd and he brought it in for the pretty layup. Tug answered, Jeremy Dillon to Colby Savage in the post and he went up strong for two points.
Dillon again, got past the defender and hit the jumper from the corner of the key. Crusaders would take an early lead, Brent Daniels made a bucket and they went up 10-4. Haydan Stargell would help the Panthers out, he went in the lane for the score.
Kidd would make a shot from the corner, drew a foul and made the AND 1. More from the home team, Isaiah Frances made a nice spin move to tie the game at 20’s.
With two minutes left in the fourth quarter they could be tied up again 45-45 with the basket from Dillon. Just seconds left in the game, Francis was fouled, went to the line for the 1 and 1. He nailed both of them and Greater Beckley won 47-45.
After the game Coach Helton expressed how proud he was of his team.
“We never really could maintain a solid lead but they couldn’t either, so really happy with particularly our last 3 minutes I thought our guys stepped up and showed a lot of heart on the defensive end and executed on the offensive end,” he said.
The Crusaders are now 18-2.
