A house designed for women struggling with drug addiction is now open in Mercer County.  The Highland House opened up to 6 women on September 1, 2016.  It’s for women currently with alternative forms of sentencing who are going through the Drug Court Program or the Mercer County Day Report Center.  The house is operated through CASE West Virginia.  House Manager Melanie Danielson says the women are staying free of charge.

Danielson said, “Is a big blessing to be able to help you know these women and to get them you know stable and get them productive members of society.  It’s a big blessing and I’m very grateful for CASE for the opportunity to let me come here to do this.”
The Highland House is located on Highland Avenue in Bluefield.
