Hundreds of Appalachian Power customers are still without power in Raleigh County on Wednesday, July 15, 2015.  Some of those are in Sophia, WV because of downed power lines in the Stoneville area of Crab Orchard.  Jeff Bittman, Sophia Fire Chief, said on Tuesday night that power was down from Riffe Street to Midway

“Right now just be very careful of what you’re doing,” Bittman says. “Watch for lines, it’s dark, you can’t see power poles down. Just really pay attention to what you’re doing, look at the roads to what’s going on.”

Bittman said the call was first made to the Sophia Fire Department at 7:36 p.m. According to Bittman, another power line was down on Robert C. Byrd Drive, but it has since been cleared out of the roadway
