I-77 back open after accident near Ghent

Crews were on the scene of an accident along the West Virginia Turnpike on Friday, June 17, 2016.  It happened in the Northbound lanes of I-77 at around 8:15 a.m. near Mile Marker 36.  That is about halfway between the Ghent toll booth and the split with I-64 in the Beckley area.

According to crews on the scene, the driver lost control of the vehicle, went through the guardrail and over an embankment.  That person was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.  There is no word on the identity of the driver.

Investigators said that weather was not a factor in the accident.  The scene has been cleared and all lanes are open.
