LATEST: Body found in burned Princeton, WV home

12:40 p.m. Nov. 21, 2016 UPDATE:

Firefighters now say the fire on Beckley Road on Monday morning was a fatal.  Crews found the body of a woman inside the home.  The scene was cleared at around 9 a.m., but the fire started up again later in the morning.  Crews were able to get the blaze completely out by around 12:30 p.m.

There is no word on who the victim is.  The fire is under investigation by the West Virginia Fire Marshal’s Office.


ORIGINAL STORY: Firefighters battle an early-morning blaze in Mercer County.  The 911 call came in shortly after 2 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 21, 2016 for a structure fire on Beckley Road near Princeton, WV.

Dispatchers confirmed the structure is a single-family home.  No injuries have been reported.  Princeton Fire Department, as well as East River Volunteer Fire Department and the Matoaka Fire Department responded. As well as Princeton Rescue Squad.
