LATEST: Driver arrested in Eads Mill Rd accident


4 p.m. July 24, 2015 UPDATE:

Deputies in Mercer County have arrested a man who was driving a truck that went over an embankment on Eads Mill Road.  David Fain apparently ran off from an accident that happened at around 1 p.m.  He was on probation for an embezzlement charge.  Deputies charged Fain with Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Driving without a Registration, Driving without Insurance and Reckless Driving.  He is being taken to the Southern Regional Jail.

ORIGINAL STORY: An accident happened along Eads Mill Road in Mercer County on Friday, July 24, 2015, now deputies are searching for the driver.  Dispatchers said the accident involved a pickup truck which went over an embankment at around 1:01 p.m.  The truck is an older model blackish gray Chevrolet.

 According to Cpl. D.A. Furches, it is possible the truck was stolen.  The driver left the scene, and investigators said it appears he was injured.  

Emergency responders were still on the scene more than an hour later. They are looking for a white man in a gray shirt and blue jeans.  Firefighters with the Athens Fire Department were called out to assist with the accident.
