State Police in Virginia are cautioning travelers about a string of accidents that are tying up traffic in Carroll County on I-77. Troopers said the first accident was reported at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 26, 2016.
There were reports of four clusters of accidents involving thee to seven vehicle each. They happened in the North and Southbound lanes of the interstate. Only one minor injury was reported among all the crashes.
There is extreme fog on Fancy Gap Mountain which has reduced visibility to right around 200 feet. Traffic is being detoured around the accidents while State Troopers work to clear the crashes and re-open lanes. Motorists traveling between Wytheville and North Carolina are advised to be on the look out for changing conditions and traffic patterns.
