With the closure of Walmart in Kimball earlier in the year and other economic issues in McDowell County, deputies with the Sheriff’s Department are not going to be participating in the annual Shop with a Cop program.  However, deputies said they are still going to help the less fortunate this holiday season.

The Sheriff’s Department will be taking donations to buy sleeping bags as a part of their Warm for the Winter program.  They are also accepting donations of new sleeping bags.  Those can be dropped off at the office.  The sleeping bags will be distributed by deputies to needy families before Christmas.

Checks can be made payable to Warm for the Winter.  Donations can be sent to the following address:

90 Wyoming St., Suite 117
Welch, WV 24801
