Mercer County BOE President resigns


A special session of the Mercer County Board of Education was held on Monday, Feb. 8, 2016.  A letter released to the Board of Education announced the resignation of Board President Greg Prudich, who served on the board for 17½ years.

During the special session, the Board elected Mr. Gilbert “Gene” Bailey of Camp Creek, WV to be the new president.  He has been a member of the board for more than 21 years.  He previously served as the board vice-president.

According to the release, “The Mercer County Board of Education is confident that Mr. Bailey will continue to lead our board and our school system in being a leader in education in West Virginia.”

Mr. J.B. Hurt of Princeton, WV was elected to take over as Vice President.  Procedures for filling the seat vacated by Prudich will be discussed at the Board of Education meeting on Feb. 16, 2016.
