People with any leftover or unused prescription pills can now bring them to the Mercer County Courthouse. The Mercer County Commission along with Community Connections and the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, installed a drug-drop off box on the main floor of the courthouse.
The box is completely secure and will only be accessible by law enforcement. Greg Puckett, president of Community Connections, said this is a way to make the community safer and cut down on the supply of drugs around the county.
“We do have a huge problem with drugs in the area and we’ve got to do everything we can do to keep this issue at a minimum. This is a huge step in that and we are just excited, and we hope people will use this box on a regular basis,” Puckett said.
People can take their unwanted drugs at anytime while the courthouse is open. Liquids and needles are not accepted.
