CHARLESTON, W.Va. (July 10, 2015) – Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin announced $6,311,801 in West Virginia Community Corrections (CC) Grant program funds to 27 projects across the state. Funds will assist local communities in the establishment and continued operation of community corrections programs.

“Over the past few years, we have worked hard to improve our state’s justice system by including more community-based corrections and substance abuse treatment options, and we’ve made great progress on both fronts,” Gov. Tomblin said. “The presentation of this grant funding will help continue the momentum we’ve built by providing programs with the financial means to develop new and innovative programming and enhance existing initiatives to further safeguard our communities and strengthen West Virginia’s justice system.”

The West Virginia Community Corrections Grant Program is intended to provide a means for communities to develop, establish and maintain community-based corrections programs to provide the judicial system with sentencing alternatives for those offenders who may require less than institutional custody.
