10 a.m. July 23, 2015 UPDATE:

Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies are working with the West Virginia Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to get more details about a possible murder.  Investigators were called to a home on Town Creek Road in Pax, WV at around 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2015.  Inside they found the body of a man who they say may have been shot.  The preliminary investigation identified the man as 32-year-old Joshua Monroe Dillon.  The body has been taken to the medical examiner’s office.  An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday, July 23.

“At this point we don’t have a lot of information to work with,” said Sheriff Steve Kessler. “The autopsy will help us to identify this victim and hopefully give us a better idea as to the cause and manner of death.

While deputies were in the house, they found a meth lab, and called for help from the Central West Virginia Drug Task Force.  Officers with the task force said there was evidence that someone had been making meth in the house for a long time.

Deputies said the victim was last seen alive in the evening on Monday, July 20.  Investigators said that he may have died shortly after that time.  The incident is still under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau.  Anyone with information on the crime is asked to contact the Fayette County 911 Center at 304-574-3590 or CrimeStoppers at 304-255-7867.  Tips can also be submitted through the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department Facebook page.


UPDATE: Fayette County Sheriff’s deputies said the home, where a body was discovered Wednesday evening, may have been a meth lab. Sheriff’s deputies believe the victim was killed by a gunshot wound. The name of the victim has not been released. 

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and the State Medical Examiner is handling the investigation. 


ORIGINAL STORY: Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies are at the scene of a possible homicide at on Town Creek Road near Pax, WV.

Sheriff Steve Kessler released the following information concerning this ongoing investigation:

At approximately 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 notification was received through the Fayette County 911 Center that a deceased individual had been discovered inside of his residence on Town Creek Road near Pax, WV.

Upon arrival at the scene Deputies found a deceased male in the living room of this residence.

The preliminary investigation indicates that this individual probably died as the result of a gunshot wound, although the cause and manner of death have not been conclusively determined at this time.

This incident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. No further details are available for release at this time.
