Murder suspect rejects plea deal

A plea hearing was held on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016 for a Raleigh County man accused of murder.  Joe Collins is accused of killing Larry Totten back in August 2014.  The murder happened in Totten’s home in Glen White, WV.  Deputies said Totten was shot twice in the chest.

During a plea hearing in front of Raleigh County Circuit Judge John Hutchison, Collins was offered a deal to serve 10 to 40 years in prison if he pleaded guilty to the murder.  Collins rejected that plea.  That means the case will go to trial.  Judge Hutchison set a pre-trial hearing for July 25, 2016.  The trial date was set for Aug. 2 at 9 a.m.
