No charges in Raleigh County shooting


UPDATE: We’re learning new details about a shooting that happened Saturday, June 20, 2015. According to a press release from the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department, it happened at a home in Calloway Heights early in the afternoon. Deputies said the elderly homeowner, Thomas O’Dell, opened the door and shot Michael Elliot, because he believed Elliot was there to harm him. O’Dell told deputies Elliot was beating on several other doors at his home. Elliot’s injuries are not life-threatening, and he is expected to recover. At this time, no charges are expected to be filed, but deputies say the investigation remains open.

———————————————————–Raleigh County Emergency Dispatchers said a man was shot in his hand and chest on Saturday, June 20, 2015.  Dispatchers said it happened on Warden Street in Calloway Heights around 2:20 p.m.  Dispatchers said the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department and Jan-Care Ambulance crews responded.  According to dispatchers, crews were still on scene as of 4:15 p.m.  No word on if any arrests have been made or victim’s condition.
