Oak Hill man convicted of murder

A three day murder trial in Fayette County ended with a conviction.  On Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016, Brandon Shepard was found guilty of killing Waylon Scarbrough.  The murder happened on June 27, 2015 in the Harlem Heights area of Oak Hill, WV.

Shepard stabbed Scarbrough over a drug debt.  The victim was taken to Plateau Medical Center where he was declared dead.  The jury deliberated for 45 minutes on Thursday morning before returned a guilty verdict.  They also recommended Shepard receive mercy during sentencing.  The case was investigated by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.
