Officers and Residents Walk together to support law enforcement

Five officers killed in Dallas another three killed in an ambush style attack in Baton Rouge. Officers across the nation are on edge.

“We do have their back, we do support them, as a community, as a whole, as a family,” Kristina Meredith, the co-organizer for the Back The Blue Walk.

It’s a simple gesture that goes a long way. Residents all over southern West Virginia have the six’s of local law enforcement.

To show their support Officers and residents walked together. From the Academy of Careers and Technology, to the Beckley Police Department’s shooting range.
One of the many walkers was Tom Lilly.

“We should all stand up for what’s right, there’s a lot lacking in the world today when it comes to good and evil and it’s time that we take a stand,” Lilly said.

Lilly says he greatly appreciates the turn out, his son is a Beckley Police Officer.

It gets close to your own heart then and you see the need for support, for prayer and just to be there.

Meredith say they plan on having more law enforcement appreciation events like this on a yearly basis.

The walk also was in honor of Bill Gravley of Beckley P.D who was recently injured in the line of duty.
