One dead in stabbing in Fayette County

UPDATE: The Fayette County Sheriff’s Department has released the name of the victim and suspect in a stabbing that left one person dead. 

The victim has been identified as 36 year old Waylon Randall Scarbrough, of Oak Hill. The suspect has been identified as 26 year old Brandon D. Shepard, of Oak Hill. The stabbing happened at a residence at 57 Bolen Lane, in the Harlem Heights area of Oak Hill. When deputies arrived on scene they found Scarbrough with an apparent stab wound to the abdomen. He was taken to Plateau Medical Center, where he died.

The suspect immediately turned himself in to the Oak Hill Police Department. He is currently being processed. Shepard is currently charged with murder, and will be remanded to the Southern Regional Jail, pending his arraignment before a Fayette County Circuit Judge. 

The incident remains under investigation by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department.
