One Voice speaks about combating WV drug problem

In 2016, the West Virginia Attorney General announced the state is taking a stiffer stance on drugs in 2016.  New changes are being made to combat the problem with a combination of enforcement, education and prevention.

One Voice is a faith based treatment facility in Beckley, WV.  They help people cope with addiction.

“We focus a lot on after-care and our motto is never give up,” said One Voice Program Director, Melonie Terry. “Individuals who come out of treatment or out of addiction, they have a long journey of recovery.  It’s not easy.  It’s step by step, day by day, minute by minute, sometimes even second by second.”

According to the Attorney General, overdoses are happening at an alarming rate in West Virginia.  He said they are at more than twice the national average.
