Mercer County Sheriff’s Deputies want the public to know about a scam that is going around. According to workers at the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department, they’ve been getting several calls from people saying they’ve been receiving calls from people posing as Mercer County Deputies or Mercer County Detectives. The reported suspects are giving the names of the deputies and detectives on the call. They are reportedly asking for money from the person who answers the phone. The suspects say they have a warrant for their arrest because they didn’t show up for jury duty. We are told the suspects are asking for $2,000. They are wanting the money in gift cards or iTunes cards and they are reportedly giving fake case numbers. Deputies want people in the community to know that this is a scam and it’s not coming from the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department.
