Police Investigate Unknown Substance That Sent Inmates To The Hospital In Tazewell

An investigation is underway in Tazewell County after inmates are sent to the hospital.  Tazewell Police Chief Dewitt Cooper said 5 inmates took an unknown substance at the Southwest Regional Jail in Tazewell on Thursday July 9, 2015.  Cooper said the inmates were taken to the hospital and have since been released.  He said the unknown substance is being tested to determine what it is.  Cooper said the Tazewell Police Department is investigating exactly how it got into the jail.
