A baby girl that was previously believed to be wrapped in plastic wrap and abandoned on a back porch was actually found wrapped in a blanket on a sofa inside the home, according to the Hagerstown Police Department’s public information officer, Heather Aleshire. Police said a teen gave birth to the baby inside the home, called 911 and lied about discovering the baby outside.
The baby was flown to Children’s National Medical Center for precautionary measures, but police said she is in stable condition. Police said the mother was taken to Meritus Medical Center and is in “good condition.”
No charges are expected to be filed. The Department of Social Services was notified about the incident.
