As we are just days away from 2017, preparations are underway for 4th Annual Downtown Countdown on Mercer Street in Princeton. It’s on New Year’s Eve.
New additions this year will be ice sculptures and a treasure and scavenger hunt. Firefighters from the Princeton Fire Department were out testing the ball drop on Monday December 26, 2016. Organizer Lori McKinney said there will be 5 indoor venues with live music and comedy.
McKinney said, “When the ball drops and fireworks happen, that’s one of the most special moments of the year. I just love being able to come together with all these different community partners to make this happen for our community. One of the best for us is walking around the neighborhood giving out the tickets. Everyone within a 2 block radius gets tickets for the festival.”
Kids 10 and under and veterans get in free. Tickets are only needed for the 8:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. events. Anyone can watch the ball drop for free right at midnight. For more information, you can go to www.downtowncountdown.org.
