Summer has come to an end and the 2017-2018 School Year for Raleigh County has begun. Faculty and Staff spent weeks preparing for the students arrival.
New and old students made their way into classrooms to begin a fresh new start.
Penny Carrico, told us, “Well every first day of school is exciting it allows a chance for new challenges and to celebrate new successes it’s just a fresh opportunity to set new goals and to work towards those and work towards school success as a family.”
For some the first day isn’t about homework and tests, it’s meant to be a good time.
“It’s just the first day and you’re supposed to have fun.” said, Kinnley Dangerfield.
The Principal at Shady Spring Elementary agreed the first day of school should be fun; starting with activities.
Carrico said, “We always try to plan not so much go over rules and procedures and just to beat that into them but mostly to do new activities and to meet each other.”
Students in Pocahontas County also started their first August, 6th 2017 as well.
